By the time Katrina reached Northeastern New York it was far more tempered in it's wrath, leaving us with two and a half inches of rain and a little bit of blustery winds. The rains were welcome, late summer had left us dry, crinkling brown grass and a withering garden. So this late August storm was appreciated, though the rain seemed to signal the end of summer, as labor day knocked on the door. Eager for a treasure hunt, the girls followed a series of maps through the yard and into the woods to X's marking a spot where treasure was buried (a string of glass pink beads).
We are back in the swing of things, college classes have begun, and school begins next week. But,we are off to the Adirondacks this weekend, where some friends have a camp, and we hope to see the summer out as we saw it enter, with canoeing, swimming and hiking.
